I was feeling this flick from the very start... I mean Juno in a Zenith t-shirt.. Hell Yeah! At one time Zenith was one of the biggest factories in the Billy, then it move to Mexico, pre-NAFTA...[i digress]

So its no big secret that I'm a huge Drew Barrymore fan. To see a movie where she is casted along the likes of Juno, Maybe Bluth, Malory Knox, Eve and that super funny SNL girl. This movie was a throbber just waiting to happen.... That is until I remembered that Juno is also the lil girl from Hard Candy.... Speaking of: The most ironic part of the movie is when Maybe says to Juno she doesn't have the balls to roller derby, apparently Maybe never watched her get down in Hard Candy...

2 things that I could have done without in this movie
1) The 15mins they took explaining Roller Derby... Seriously there are rules to Roller Derby??...
2) Juno's skinny legged pant wearing rocker boyfriend... I get with out drama its just a documentary but WTF is with skinny legged pants? Seriously, where does your junk go in those pants?? I understand on the set you would want a place to conceal your boner but wouldn't it be [no pun] painfully obvious you where chubbed up?... Kids these days...

Every since I gave up being a vegetarian I've been looking for some way to have a some kind of carnivorous coming out party. I've thought of the whole eat this much crap in this much time type gig but that seems more about gluttony than celebrating the consumption of animals.

After stumbling upon Black widow bakery's Meat cake I knew this was something I had to create.. It combines all the celebration of a cake with all the tastiness of meat!

Luckily i have an equally adventurous co-worker who was willing to help me in my endeavor.

Here's our version of the MEAT CAKE

Start with any type of meatloaf. we stayed close to the widow's recipe [although it was hard to decrypt]

Cool the loaf

some time along the way you need to make some icing.. we used mashed potatoes [instant for smooth consistency]. A meatloaf sauce is also a vital part... Not only will it sweeten up the loaf it make a great decoration medium.

We decided to go with a double layered cake. Here is the building process...

Once the cake is leveled, stacked and rounded its time to decorate... Not as easy as you would think...

Now that its put together its time for Nom Nom......

Ever since I watched coffee and ciggaretts I love saying "Bill Murray" the way RZA and GZA do.. I am sure Bill Murray is the reason I put this in my streaming queue.

This movie is great if you want to use your imagination and are OK if the movie doesn't tell the whole story. If you need everything handed to you in a Hollywood media blitz where thinking is optional then this is not the movie for you.

Leaving out the obvious is what makes this dry movie worth watching. Like the awkward relationship that the animal translator has with her receptionist [Nicki from Big Love]. The character names add a nice depth to the coincident rich plot....

Best Part: Eric's [from Entourage] girl friend [not Samoan] full frontal. or Bill Murray rockin the track suit

Worst Part: 2 striped track suits [that would never fly in the Billy]

I was soo stoked to see that Dude Lebowski was playing Johnny-Hank-Merle Cash-Williams-Haggard Jr. I was even more stoked when Dude shows up in a bowling alley dressed as the Cowboy. It was like Big Lebowski goes full circle... My mind began to fantasize of a scene where Sam Elliot begins to narrate how He becomes the Dude and the Dude learns the hard lesson of why you only order sarsaparilla in bowling alleys.

So last Saturday I attended Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know? live at JKH hall of performing arts in Springbilly. I've been a fan of the show ever since I can remember so naturally I jumped at the chance to get tickets. Little did I know that the most sampled man on the planet would be on stage.

For those of you who don't know Clyde "Funky Drummer" Stubblefield is the drummer on a Mr James Brown's Funky Drummer cut. That break has been sampled by nearly all my favorite rappers.
I think there was a rule that you couldn't release an album in 90's without sampling from Funky Drummer.

Hip-Hop lost one of the Greatest MC's of all time yesterday when Guru passed.

Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal

Guru was one of my top 5 favorite MC's. The unique monotone style he always stayed true to was easily recognized on any track and by far one of the dopiest styles ever. Not to mention his lyrical content was always real life ish I could get down with. Even when he made it big he kept it real. I just wish He and Premier could have squashed the beef that grew between them. There will never be another MC DJ pairing as fresh as Gang Starr.

As I sit here typing I can't help but think about how integrated his work is into my lexicon. Like who can say lemonade and not think about how popular it was and still is... Every time I fly I think about above the clouds. Shit my favorite ringback is "Mass Appeal". "My Self Lord and Master" has been my job title for years.. I cant count how many times i've said "I'm sorta the Boss so get Lost". There are so many bangers each track he's blessed...

20 innings WTF!

Last night the Saint Louis Cardinals and the New York Metropolitans combined for the worst offensive output this year. Let me remind you that both teams signed signed 100 million dollar outfielders this off season and for what? So they could trow up 18 frames of nil baseball.... I had just as many hits in that game as the aforementioned outfielders.

Granted the game started with two premier hurlers on the mound. The one wearing red had a no-no going into the 5th when the asshole play by play commentator let everyone know there was a 0 0 0 box score. Come on Alberts learn something from your side kick. You didn't hear McCarver mentioning the obvious. Everyone knows you don't mention the no-hitter. Thats what separates announcers who played the game from the ones with relatives.

Even with great pitching that is no reason to go 18 scoreless innings. The bullpen is in the bullpen because they cant begin or finish games... The point is they make ERA mistakes.

While I'm ranting will someone please pay Fernando Tatis to tattoo "I hit 2 grand slams off Chan Ho-Park in one inning" on his freakin face! Seriously every time he comes to the plate I hear how that will never happen again unless the manager is mad at a pitcher... I understand how awesome of a feat that is and how the probability is ridiculous... He was playing for the good guys when it happened but give me a break, every game this guy plays in its the same ole thing. I think its more impressive how he lost 75lbs of baby fat or how he forgot how to hit off speed junk [or anything inside for that matter].

So I have had my iPhone for about 6 months now and its been long enough to determine that it's a piece of shit. Don't get me wrong it's a great phone for my Dad, Trendsters, Macophilians or anyone who is a danger to themselves with technology. Once the Sexiness wore off I was left with the sobering fact that this is just a crappy phone with internet access.
And here is why [in random order]:

No control over data: The phone doesn't support a file system.
Bluetooth: The only thing I can use the Bluetooth for is cyborging [weak]
Lack of FM Radio: I had a FM Radio phone back in 2002. 0 free cardinals games could be the biggest complaint for me.
Unsupported Multitasking: So your streaming Pandora over 3g at work thinking this is the best ish ever, then a text comes in so you read it, only to find out that Pandora closes once its not the active app. EPIC FAIL
Idiotic Text grouping and display:

1st impression Oh wow the iPhone groups my text's by conversation thats fresh....
lasting impression Who sent text's first John or Jane?... what time did that last text come in at?... Who was copied on this text?... how the hell do i reply a specific text in a thread?....

No control over Desktop: I want to put apps icons where I want to put apps icons.
Lack of Mass storage mode: My phone has X amount of free storage why cant I fill it with data from my computer?...
No MP3 ringtone support: I just uploaded some Fly tracks into the iPod portion of the phone I cant wait to rock the funky beats when my homies call.... STILL WAITING!!!!
Barriers to entry: Apple has taken the Christianity approach to moving data. Just as the only way to the Father is through the Son.. The only way to the pod/phone is through the tunes... iTunes is the worst resource hog since AOL... Seriously crashintosh is this the best you got?...
No Audio Profiles: I transition from work to home to outside to bed... in order for my phone to transition i have to locate where my settings icon is and adjust the volume and ring style to fit me needs.. hate to be stuck on my Sony Ericson but they have been doing that for the past 5yrs at least.
Why cant I Tether 3G to my lapper?: I paid my bill let me do with it what i want!
What happend to the Whole Web??: Remember the commercial where Apple showed off a web page being rendered into what appeared to be a standard browser and the voice slams crackberries by saying you get the entire web not just text? one word FLASH. Not that I'm a fan i'm just saying...
Printer support: I have wasted 30mins trying to set up or somehow find a work around to print a pdf on a networked printer. [and maintain my warranty]
Dropped calls: I almost forgot the most important reason to carry a phone... communication. I have dropped more phone calls on this rotten apple than i did on the Motorola V60

I am sure this list will do nothing but grow as i continue to find fault in this shitty ass phone. Do yourself a favor and wait on the Nexus One to come down on price and cop one of those bad boys. My coworker got one and I am soo jelly.

So I have been doing Yoga [or Yoga has been doing me] for about 11 months now.
I began in a beginners class and have worked my way up to a Vinyasa II / III class
It's been a totally rad way to combine Church and the Gym. The Lords know I have a hard time walking into either of those facilities...

Throughout the coarse of the past 11 months I have been able to do some pretty cool poses with my body..
- Touch my toes
- Head and Hand stands
- Awkward balancing poses
- I even did 50 sun salutations in a row
But up until last week I have not been able to bind any poses. I was so stoked to be able to bind a warrior II and triangle [Virabhadrasana II , Utthita Trikonasana] that I had to let you all know about it.

If anyone is considering taking up a religion or starting a gym membership I highly recommend that you try Yoga first.

Most of my time in a classroom consisted of origami, doodling and meticulously peeling shards of the foil layer of a gum wrapper away from the waxy layer and then posting the pieces of foil onto a book or folder. Oh those were the days....

A coworker [wes] had some 5 gum today and I found my self very nostalgic...

It all started when he came into my office busting a paper popper and handing me a stick of gum... Those 2 events combined was like activating the flux capacitor. I was instantly taken back to my mislead days at RepMo JHS....

All Day I Dream about Sneakers

So last weekend I made my annual B-day resort trip. The luxury accommodations are nice but the real reason I make this annual pilgrimage is to visit my two favorite outlet stores. Who would have thought that nestled in the middle of this tourist trap, would be the two gems I harbor so dearly.
The thought of diggin for kicks consumed me in the weeks leading up to the journey.
Would I find some bangers?
Would they have my size?
How many should i cop?
I was a total mess. This was the first kicks expedition that my girlfriend has attended. I knew this adventure would be a true test of our bond. If she could hang on through the highs and lows of scavenging for the freshest pair then she would find herself nestled on top shelf....

I am Happy to report that the trip was a success. I only brought home 3 pair but honey was a trooper. She was so down for the cause. She even found new kicks adorning her lil ped peds

I have been asked by many friends what my McGwire take is.
This is a very difficult situation for me to digest. I didn't want to offer an opinion while I was still in reactionary mode... But before I start to examine this case I would like to first state:

I have been a McGwire fan since the wood grain tops card came out. [He hit 49 homers as a rookie]
I have been a Cardinals fan since my Grandfather was a kid... [Thank GOD I didn't have a choice]

So with those bias being established, it's obviously easier for me to forgive a childhood hero who set records while playing for MY team of any mistakes. Who hasn't made mistakes, right.....
The game of baseball is all about the games with in the game and how to get an advantage over your opponent. It has a history of players going out side of the rules to optimize performance.

All of the things mentioned above are just equipment cheats that players have been caught doing. There are many accounts of players taking stimulants [1986 Metropolitans], playing drunk [Babe Ruth] and Doc Ellis pitched a No-No while on LSD.....
I feel that what McGwire and his peers did was unfortunate because it taints an era.. It compromises the time shift comparison factor that has made baseball the greatest sport on this planet.
But this is nothing new Baseball has had the Dead ball era [avg 3.4] runs a game... You know the time when Cy Young was making a name for himself.... Now we just have the Juiced era.

So I went to finish getting my crown replaced today... Last installment... The 2 trip visit cost over $900 thank god I have insurance.... my portion was only $600. Yeah my thoughts exactly what a fuckin rip-off!

Then the tell me that I have full blown Periodontal disease or disorder what ever it is... So like any responsible patient should do I asked for the results of my gum scrapings that they took and it turns out that I am just past the Gingivitis stage and I could go a little longer without getting the $500 treatment... WTF!?! I mean seriously this is a total abuse of power. You are supposed to trust your Dentist and this Hack is using scare tactics to get me in sooner for treatments that might be unnecessary.... Pathetic....

I just saw an ad for some Mike McGill Skate shoes today. Normally when I see a child hood skate hero coming out with something new I'm pretty geeked that an ole' timmer is still getting paid. But there was something very peculiar about this advertisement that made me take special notice… This ad featured some corporate logos that I have never seen in skate mags before, it was so shocking I had to look at the cover of the rag to see if I was still flipping through the same publication.
